Wow, I think you're being a tad harsh in your ratings for movies from this era. It may not measure up to the blockbusters of today, but at the time, I thought Die Hard was one of the greatest action movies ever. And Naked Gun was worthy of 3 stars!! (although, I was 18 when I watched it...)
Die Hard was a terrific movie. I won't give it 4 stars though. Naked Gun was decently funny. (I saw it more recently though, and it was a bit dated.)
4 stars: great, a classic
3 stars: good to very good (worth seeing)
2 stars: mediocre to OK (rental at most)
1 stars: bad
